Map fish need to mature before laying eggs, and they usually need about 18 months to reach adulthood. Adult map fish will pair with fish of the opposite sex. After the male and female map fish are successfully paired, the female fish will lay eggs. After the female fish lays eggs, the male fish will immediately come forward to inseminate. After fertilization of male fish, fish eggs will become fertilized eggs. After a period of incubation, small fish can be born. The spawning time of map fish is not limited by time and season, so long as the breeder can ensure their comfortable environment, they can lay eggs. For map fish to breed, it is best for breeders to keep the water clean and raise the water temperature to 30 ℃ so that they can breed.

The map fish can hatch in about 3 days after laying eggs. After they lay eggs, the breeder needs to keep the water temperature above 26 ℃ and ensure the water quality is clean. After waiting for 2-3 days, the fish eggs can hatch successfully. After successful hatching, the small fish do not need to be fed immediately, wait for about 3 days, and then feed some bumper shrimp eggs or cooked egg yolks.

In the process of hatching, breeders need to carefully observe whether the eggs are fertilized, and fish out the unfertilized eggs as soon as possible to avoid polluting the water quality. Unfertilized fish eggs are generally white, while fertilized fish eggs are transparent and have a small black dot in the middle.
